NorthEastPassage Cooler

A cooler combines alcohol, soda, and ice with fruit juice and is a refreshing chilled drink suited to outdoor drinking on a tropical island. Tangy passion fruit, pineapple juice, and lemon sharpen its flavor while warm tones of vanilla syrup, native to Mexico, impart a heavenly scent.


  • 50 ml Aruba Vodka [1½ ounces plus 1 teaspoon]

  • 20 ml passion fruit purée [½ ounce plus 1 teaspoon]

  • 20 ml unsweetened pineapple juice [½ ounce plus 1 teaspoon]

  • 20 ml lemon juice [½ ounces plus 1 teaspoon]

  • 10 ml vanilla syrup [½ ounce]


  • Pineapple leaves, Maraschino cherry, lemon wheel, for garnish


Combine all the ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice and shake vigorously to combine. Strain and serve in an Old Fashioned, Casablanca, or long drink glass over fresh ice. Garnish with a pineapple leaf, Maraschino cherry, and lemon wheel.
